Attached above is a screenshot of an email that I received from the TNOTA representative at the TNOTA conference of 2017 in Nashville, TN. I was asked to represent my school on a Level II Fieldwork panel at the 2017 TNOTA conference. I was more than happy to represent my school and give back to students who needed assistance or questions answered about Level II Fieldwork. Many of the students that attended the panel were second year's in occupational therapy school and had experienced Level I Fieldwork. I remembered being in their shoes and experiencing the nerves and anxiousness when thinking about the upcoming Level II Fieldwork rotations, so I was more than willing to be a panel member and assist these students. I believe that serving on this panel helped me to meet this competency skill because of the leadership and advocacy I was able to develop while participating in this panel. An entry-level practitioner should actively participate in associations within their state and the nation because it improves their leadership skills as well as assists other occupational therapists and/or occupational therapy students. It is important for a practitioner to give back to the organizations that they are a part of and to represent the facility they work for and/or the state they work in.
