Attached above is a PowerPoint that I created for an in-service at my last Level II fieldwork at Lebonheur Children's Hospital. I decided to research for a topic related to children with sensory processing and integration difficulties due to many of the children that we treat having sensory difficulties. These children also presented with other areas that occupational therapy could work on as well. When I came across the article that I used, I immediately knew it was the perfect article to present on because it focused on every aspect that can be affected by sensory processing and integration difficulties. It also can be generalized to all of the professions working at Lebonheur and presented such a great framework that can be followed. After finding this article and presenting on it, I started to really keep many of the ideas in mind when treating my patients. I also presented on this article in the LEND program through the Boling Center at UTHSC that I was a part of. I thought it was perfect to present on for this program, secondary to the fact the the program focused on an inter-disciplinary approach and many of these ideas can be used by various professions. An entry-level practitioner should be able to use and integrate research into their practice so they know that their patients are receiving the best and most effective treatment. They should always keep up on the newest research, along with sharing this research with their colleagues, no matter what profession their colleagues represent.
