3. Represents the unique perspective of occupational therapy when participating in inter-professional situations.
When I was in the first half of my rotation, I was in the outpatient rehab center. Every month, they have a outpatient department meeting that is focused solely on an interdisciplinary approach. Each discipline reports on their patient that is receiving two of the three disciplines; speech, physical, or occupational therapy. At the meeting last month, I was asked to report on my patients that I had been seeing for multiple weeks. I felt as if this was a large leadership role that I assumed during my time at my fieldwork site. When they called out my patients' names, I was able to give everyone an overview on how each patient had been doing during treatment sessions and if they need to continue to receive services. I think it is very beneficial to the patients that they have these meetings once a month because then everyone is on the same page with how that specific patient has been progressing while getting services.
