This picture is of a Card Sort Activity that I made for Methodist North Hospital when I was there for my first Level II Fieldwork. When I first came to this fieldwork, I was told that I would have to make a project to leave that a lot of the clients could benefit from. I decided to make this card sort because it works on a multitude of skills that my clients in outpatient needed to work on, such as fine motor skills, dynamic standing balance, endurance, dynamic sitting balance, BUE strength, BUE ROM, reaching, attention to task, cognition, problem solving, L neglect/scanning, visual discrimination, and much more. I feel as if this project is a great example for this competency skill that a future entry-level practitioner should possess. It is important than an entry-level occupational therapist be able to fulfill the commitments that are asked of them and be responsible for deadlines of work that should be done. In this example, I was told that I had to create something to leave there. I was sure to make my project and turn it in weeks before my last week at the facility so that I made sure I was fulfilling what was asked of me by my fieldwork educator. My fieldwork educator really enjoyed my project and seemed ecstatic to use it with her patients in the future. I even heard from some students who had rotations there after me that they used my project multiple times with various different clients. I also left a handout with my educator that listed how to use the project and what all it can work on. Attached above is also this handout.
